Women's network in Bolivia strengthens living conditions
In Bolivia, we collaborate with a large network of women. Together they hand-knit HUTTEliHUT products in alpaca wool. Originally, we started our collaboration with twenty women. Throughout the years, the network of women has grown to nearly one hundred talanted knitters that are now organised in five smaller knitting groups.
The women must work from home so they can take care of their children during the day. Once a week, they come together in their knitting groups. They knit together, eat lunch and learn new knitting-techniques. This way, the women make their own money, which give them more freedom, the opportunity for education for their children, and to help each other across families.
Our Bolivian production is Fairtrade certified. It ensures decent working conditions and a fairer deal for our knitters.
